One of the most important lessons in Candle Care 101 is to trim your wicks! Wick trimming not only improves the performance of your candle but it also creates a safe burn. Having a long wick can produce soot, excessive smoke, and dangerously high flames. To reduce the risk of any of these happening, it is important to trim your wick before each candle burn!
Rule of thumb is to trim your wick to 1/4", if cotton, and 3/16" for wood wicks.
Always remember to clear out the debris in the candle after trimming the wick!
